Wicked Little Town

Wicked Little Town gathers more than fifty artists and critical thinkers traversing trans-temporal imaginations of resistance, unruliness, and non-compliance across genders, abilities and national borders.

Highlighting companionship, alliances, and bonds, this publication tunes to critiques of normativity and dialogues around the interdependency between intersectional oppressions and collective paths of liberation. It assembles non-violent grammars and vocabularies, especially of those artists, scholars, and activists who are often excluded from dominant narratives. Wicked Little Town is comprised of multiple formats, such as essays, poems, letters, historical documents, transcripts of time-based artistic works, and a theater play, as well as visual contributions.

This publication expands the joint curatorial fellowship of the Gebert Stiftung für Kultur in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, awarded to Fanny Hauser and Viktor Neumann between the period of autumn 2019 and spring 2021.

Wicked Little Town versammelt über fünfzig Künstler:innen und kritische Denker:innen, die transtemporale Vorstellungen von Widerstand, Ungehorsam und Nonkonformität über Geschlechter, Fähigkeiten und nationale Grenzen hinweg erkunden. Die Publikation legt den Fokus auf Gemeinschaft, Allianzen und Bindungen und nimmt Stellung zu Kritiken an Normativität sowie zu Dialogen über die Wechselwirkungen zwischen intersektionalen Unterdrückungen und kollektiven Befreiungswegen.

Sie versammelt gewaltfreie Grammatiken und Vokabulare, insbesondere von Künstler:innen, Wissenschaftler:innen und Aktivist:innen, die häufig aus dominanten Narrativen ausgeschlossen werden. Wicked Little Town besteht aus vielfältigen Formaten, darunter Essays, Gedichte, Briefe, historische Dokumente, Transkripte zeitbasierter künstlerischer Arbeiten, ein Theaterstück sowie visuelle Beiträge.

Die Publikation knüpft an das gemeinsame kuratorische Stipendium der Gebert Stiftung für Kultur in Rapperswil-Jona, Schweiz, an, das Fanny Hauser und Viktor Neumann im Zeitraum von Herbst 2019 bis Frühling 2021 erhalten haben.
